The CrossFitter of the month is meant to celebrate the individuals who shows what it means to be a CrossFitter at CrossFit Elgin. It is more than just being #1 on the whiteboard or lifting the most weight. We, as coaches, look for effort, a never quit attitude and  a person who is a positive influence on the others around them. TRAIN HARD!

How long have you been training here at CrossFit Elgin, and what brought you here?

My daughter dances at Dance Pointe so I was very intrigued as soon as CrossFit opened. I came the first week to try it out and LOVED it so I signed up right away and have been coming 3 times a week for the past 2 months!

Since starting at CrossFit Elgin, what has your lifestyle been like? Have you changed anything?

Since starting at Croosfit I'm very proud of myself for sticking to this new fitness routine and I love how excited I am to come in each day! I feel stronger, happier and healthier and I love setting a good example for my daughter of making health and fitness a priority.

What is your favorite movement / skill you have learned at CrossFit Elgin?

I can honestly say I have a lot of favourite skills at CrossFit. I really love the variety of moves especially pull-ups, box jumps and handstand push-ups and I'm even learning to enjoy burpees!!!

What has been the most challenging part of your journey?

The most challenging for me so far is bar work but I understand how important it is and I'm hoping, like burpees, I'll learn to like lifting heavier weights too.

What has been the most fun?

Most fun for me has been meeting all of the other amazing Crossfitters and being motivated by how hard everyone works.

How many days a week do you typically train at the gym?

I'm at CrossFit 3 times a week, usually Monday, Wednesday and Friday, most days at 9:30 but sometimes at 6pm on my daughters dance nights.

What is your approach toward nutrition?

Nutrition is very important not only for me but for my family so we try to eat pretty healthy although we do like to cheat on the weekends!! We eat a lot of fruits, veggies and lean meats and fish.

Favorite activity outside of CrossFit Elgin:

My favourite activity outside of CrossFit would have to be swimming. I don't do it very often but when I do I really enjoy it. I also love walking my dog but not as much in the winter - I'm not a huge fan of the cold weather!!!

Thanks Kim! Your attitude, dedication and ability to smile & laugh are an inspiration to all of us here at CrossFit Elgin!

TRAIN HARD!

1. How long have you been training here at CrossFit Elgin, and what brought you here?
Been at Elgin Crossfit since day 2! Well, I did come in day one to see what is was all about and sign up for my first session and the rest is history! I had heard a friend talking about the fitness success he had doing crossfit in London, I googled cross fit in St Thomas once a month for the last year or so. I was excited when google directed me to the ad on Kijiji.

2.Since starting at CrossFit Elgin, what has your lifestyle been like? Have you changed anything?
Since doing the Crossfit training, I have found that I have had more energy, more time as the work outs are shorter than what I was doing before. Personal lifestyle changes include a higher level of dedication to getting in and doing the work outs!

3.What is your favorite movement / skill you have learned at CrossFit Elgin?
I get confused by the the names of all the new movements i have learned. I like the push presses and cleans. I would also have to say I really like burpees!! Such an easy grouping of movements that when put back to back and repeated really kick butt!!

4.What has been the most challenging part of your journey?
Building confidence to complete the WODs. It seems so uphill at the start of each day.

5.What has been the most fun?
The group environment is what I find fun.

6.How many days a week do you typically train at the gym?
Currently I am in 3-5 times per week.

7.What is your approach toward nutrition?
My attitude towards nutrition needs to improve. I need to focus on eating cleaner.

8.Favorite activity outside of CrossFit Elgin?
Life is crazy busy. My favorite activity outside of the gym is spending time with my family.

9. Proudest accomplishment at CrossFit Elgin: Outside the gym:
What is your biggest accomplishment fitness wise in / out of the gym?
Proudest In And out: proud that clothing is fitting better! Inches are being lost! Also, I am proud that my children are able to watch me work hard in the gym. I am proud to set a positive example for them.
