FAQ's
I am not an athlete and am out of shape. Is CrossFit for me?
Yes! We have members from a variety of different backgrounds – some who have never picked up a barbell and some who played varsity level sports. That is the great thing about the CrossFit community and programming – it will meet and challenge you at whatever level of fitness you are at. There is always room for improvement. We also train you like you are an athlete, and you will be surprised at the things you are able to accomplish after a few months of training with us! Looking good and feeling better is just an added bonus of training hard with Crossfit Elgin.
I'm from out of town. Do you allow drop-ins?
Yes! Our drop-in fee is $20. If you'll be in town a while, the CrossFit Lite Membership may be a good fit.
Can I bring my kids?
Yes! If your children can be left unsupervised in the lobby, they are welcome to join you. We have a CrossFit Class for Adults and Kids 8+ on Thursdays from 6pm - 7pm. We also have family-friendly Open Gym time on Saturday mornings from 10:30am - 12:00pm. Outside of these times, for the safety of children and others, children are not allowed in the workout area.
Do you do nutrition consultations?
Yes! If you need some extra help with nutrition and/or you are a committed athlete that wants to take your performance to the next level, reach out and we can connect you with Nutrition & CrossFit Coach Kevin Cope. He will point you in the right direction.
At CrossFit Elgin we are committed to helping you reach your goals. Unfortunately, exercise can only get you so far in trying to attain these goals! This is why at CrossFit Elgin- training hard and good nutrition go hand in hand. Our Coaches are not only passionate about CrossFit and helping you get you stronger, but also care about how you are treating your body outside of the gym. We encourage everyone to train smart, clean up their eating habits, and get adequate recovery and sleep. We do gym nutrition and training challenges from time-to-time to keep you accountable and help you reach your goals.
I don’t want to lift weights. Won’t I bulk up and loose flexibility?
No! CrossFit will not make you big and bulky. This is a common misconception despite the surplus of information that points to the contrary. Talk to any of our members or do some of your own research and you will see success story after success story of people getting in great shape, gaining lean mass, and losing weight – while not looking like body builders!
